My Buy Less Choose Well Item for Feb

(plussizesblog.blogspot.com)I must confess to falling short of my shopping goals this month, but if you recall, last month I committed to matching every dollar spent on apparel with equal amount of savings. I guess that kinda compensates for my mini splurge :/
It has been rather difficult sticking to my shopping goals because retailers have been slashing inventory like crazy to make room for Spring merchandise.  Take Nordstrom rack for example.



The retailer had an amazing sale this month, slashing an additional 25% off clearance items throughout the store.  My daughter and I spent last weekend checking out all the Nordstram Racks in our area and we scored some amazing deals like these Calvin Klein suede strappy sandals in tan. I have been on the look out for a skin-tone heel that I can wear with everything and these shoes caught my eyes last spring.  

This style was heavily in fashion rotation spring/summer 2014; every shoe brand had an adaptation of it.  I tried on a variety of  brands but Calvin Klein was the only one to produce this sandal comfortably.  As I mentioned in my How To Choose Comfortable Heels post, CK is one of my favorite shoe brands because they are synonymous with producing sleek, comfortable, quality, and stylish shoes for every budget. Last summer, these shoes were originally priced at $119.99, but with a markdown and an additional 25% off, the final price was an astounding $17.99.  At present, you may be able to find them on clearance at your local Nordstrom Rack.  If you can fit a 9.5 shoe, Amazon has one left discounted to $41.99, or you can find the latest version of the sandal at Zappos.com.  

The verenas are styled with what I call my vintage Lane Bryant dress and accessorized with my new favorite sunnies, go ld acces sories, a matching belt, and a bright clutch. By the way, check out how Lane Bryant styled this dress back in 2009, goes to show that trendy accessories and shoes can breathe life into older pieces. 
Although I did not meet my 'buy less' goal this month, a pair of Calvin Klein shoes short of $20 certainly qualifies as a 'choose well' item, don't you think?
