Pink and gray

I am really sorry for not showing myself that often. Bu t I had some gussets and I have been traveling a lot. I think that everything will come back to normality in the next few days :)

I noticed that I almost stopped wearing pink. Maybe that is even better because there was a time I was wearing it definitely to often :) But in winter I just have to wear this coat sometimes. To calm the color I chose gray pants and a gray sweatshirt. But I didn't want to make it to boring so I took my orange bag out :)

Fashion Blogger Spotlight: Venessia of Style4Curves

HTML email (plussizesblog.blogspot.com)

Hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit more about Rochelle of Beauticurve last week.  Our coverage of the bloggers we’ve named as the 20 breakout plus size bloggers of 2014 continues today with Venessia of Style4Curves.

Like me, she is a petite plus blogger, and she knows how to dress for her body.  I love her use of leopard print and reds and pinks to add bold touches to her professional chic style.  Whether sharing details of her family life or discussing how she overcame a body image issue, Venessia has a very open and inviting way of writing that makes you feel like you’re catching up with an old friend.  She is a plus size blogger YOU NEED TO KNOW!!

Meet Venessia of Style4Curves!

Blog:  www.style4curves.blogspot.com
Height:  5’2″
Age: 31
Location: I reside in Jackson, MS.

What made you want to become a fashion blogger?
I wanted to become a fashion blogger because I wanted to inspire other plus size women. I had been reading blogs for years and finally got the nerve up to start one of my own in 2010. I had just lost a child, and while I was at home recovering and trying to keep my sanity, I decided to write my first blog post and the rest is history.

Plus Size Fashion Blogger Spotlight: Venessia of Style4Curves on TheCurvyFashionista.comWhat are the challenges, if any, you face in being petite and plus-size?
One of the challenges I face being so short is finding pants that aren’t too long.

What’s your favorite thing about being petite and plus-size?
I like my height because I rarely have problems with skirts or dresses looking too short.

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?
My favorite thing about being a blogger is being able to genuinely help other women.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
Jibri, Boohoo, Torrid, and Asos are my favorites right now.

Describe your personal style.
My personal style is chic, classy, and colorful. I incorporate trends into my personal style but overall I prefer more classic pieces that I can get a lot of wear out of.

Any bloggers currently on your radar?
Jeniese of thejenesaisquoi.blogspot.com, Crystal of sometimesglam.com, and Adrienne of www.sweeneestyle.com are three of my favorite fashion bloggers. My favorite lifestyle blogger is Drea of thedreadaily.com.

Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?
I want them to know that they can look fabulous at any size on any budget.

#TCFStyle Find of the Day: Michael Kors Wrap Shirtdress

HTML email (plussizesblog.blogspot.com)

I have missed bringing you my fave finds of the day, the “Gotta Have It” items, so I thought I would bring it back, right in time for spring, because sometimes, some items are sooo good to pass up in showing and sharing with you! Right? Right. And today’s find? Is an instant classic that I know will live in your closet and on your body for seasons to come.

Gotta love an instant classic right?

#TCFStyle Find of the Day: Michael Kors Wrap Shirtdress

This Michael Kors Wrap Shirtdress in navy is giving me all kinds of life for soooo many reasons. This dress tackles both the military undertones for spring and the return of the shirtdress. BUT, add to the fact that it is a wrap as well? Easy peasy with the wear and fit!

Along, I am digging the length of this dress. For me, I love my legs (although, I think I may want to do a few more lounges), and this dress can be worn for many reasons, occasions, and places! I imagine this for a day meeting, brunch, and various similar events. With a stiletto or playful flat, there are more than a few ways that you can rock this- wouldn’t you agree?

#TCFStyle Find of the Day: Michael Kors Wrap Shirtdress This is why I made this a fave of mine and called it an instant classic. There are a million ways to rock this and make it yours, regardless of the season and/or trend. Ohhh, could you see this with a blazer too? I am just saying, there are options here and this dress provides them.

And you can cop this dress from Bloomies!

What do we think? Is this a dress you can see rocking for seasons to come? How would you make this work? Let’s talk about it!

#TCFStyle Find: 12 Plus Size Prom Dresses

HTML email (plussizesblog.blogspot.com)

Rhinestone Encrusted Bodice Tulle Plus Size Ball Gown on TheCurvyFashionista.comDo you remember your high school prom? I remember mine like it was yesterday! I wore a classic black ball gown with a split, white gloves and black strappy heels. Although my shoes weren’t all that comfortable, I sure did look good and I felt like a true princess. With the advancements in plus size fashion, comes the options in plus size prom! You have more designers, on trend designs, varying styles to match our varying personalities and tastes!

These days prom dresses don’t have to be so formal and princess-like. Girls can express their personal style by opting to wear lacy midi or bedazzled mini dresses and even edgy jumpsuits. But don’t get me wrong, the traditional ball gowns and long dress are still an option. Regardless of your style, the perfect dress is definitely out there for you!

Here’s a look at 12 plus size prom dresses fit for a queen!

I really love these options! The colors, different prints and designs and flattering fits are so versatile. Being a plus size princess these days, there’s so much to chose from! When I was prom dress shopping David’s Bridal and Macy’s were it for me. I did love my dress, but after seeing these beauties and others on the web, I wish I had more options. Thankfully additional stores like ASOS, Sydney’s Closet and Rent the Runway have surfaced, making plus size prom dress shopping so much easier!

Whatever look you’re going for this year remember to pick the dress that suits your personal style, and decide on the dress that makes you comfortable. Forget about the trends and forget about what other’s think looks best on you. You’ll be wearing the dress all night and years from now, you’ll want to have good memories when you look back at those prom pictures. Shine bright plus size princesses and remember to be safe and have fun!

What do you think of these picks? Where do you go prom and special occasion dress shopping? Lets us know in the comments below!

Blogger Off Duty with Rainbeau Curves: Welcome to My Office

HTML email (plussizesblog.blogspot.com)

Tracking PixelBlogger Off Duty with Rainbeau Curves: Welcome to Marie Denee's Office via @ TheCurvyFashionista.com If you have been following me for a little bit, then you know that I have moved to Atlanta, all the way from California. If you didn’t know, then TAHDAH, I am now a Georgia Peach! Well, with this move involves me finally being able to get my office together and to let you into my world a tad bit more! And when Rainbeau Curves  asked me to play in their active line, I thought, what a better way to bring you inside my world!

Because I do not always live in stilettos and strapless bras, when I am writing, answering emails, typing my life away, running errands, or even taking a break, I need to be comfortable and relaxed- no bra preferred in said relaxing.

So when Rainbeau Curves , the California based Family-owned-business in activewear reached out, I was curious… Although I do not work out a lot, I do fancy active wear to wear at home- in addition to my maxi dresses! AND if it is cute and comfy? Talk about form, function, and fashion! Triple win! I mean, I need to make sure life is right when I answer the door for the delivery man! You never know and I would like to look somewhat put together (you knooooow what I mean!)

Blogger Off Duty with Rainbeau Curves: Welcome to Marie Denee's Office via @ TheCurvyFashionista.com

So I picked out this set from Rainbeau Curves, the matching capri sweats and hoodie with the Jaclynn Tank with a built in shelf bra… Honey. To go from desk to grocery store to dry cleaners to CVS to the bank? I could do all of that in one fell swoop and still feel like my life is right.

But my off duty life chillin in my office…

Most of the time, this is where you will find me:

Behind my desk, writing, playing games, tweeting, you get the drift!

Blogger Off Duty with Rainbeau Curves: Welcome to Marie Denee's Office via @ TheCurvyFashionista.com However, oftentimes, I try to take a break in my life or move around to not get bored or to clear my thoughts and by having my new fun office, I can do this a bit! And while doing this, the last thing I want to be thinking about are clothes that feel awkward, are itchy or that pull funny. This is not the case with my snazzy Rainbeau Curves fit! Using premium performance fabrics, I have tons of pockets, flack in the fit, and I CAN GO BRALESS. Hallelujah!

If your life is a bit like mine or if you are looking for items that match your active life, I invite you to check out Rainbeau.com! They have these wild leggings that I NEED to get my hands on next month! NEED TO.Blogger Off Duty with Rainbeau Curves: Welcome to Marie Denee's Office via @ TheCurvyFashionista.com

My UBER Fave Beauty Wipes: YES to Grapefruit Wipes

HTML email (plussizesblog.blogspot.com)

Tracking PixelYou know, if you have been following me, I have been having a bit of fun sharing with you my favorite finds at CVS Beauty ever since I have moved to Atlanta! I’ve played in lipstick to match my new hair color, shared with you my fave mascara under $5 and today’s latest #CVSBeautyClub post is all about the facial wipes.

Now, if you are anything like me, a day out on the town, coming home and remembering to or having the energy to wash the face can be a challenge sometimes- OR maybe you travel often and need something handy and useful and effective to do its magic!  Yes to Grapefruit at CVS

Because I travel often and am lazy- hey, I am owning this, picking these up are sooo needed! Think about it, how many of you go and buy up all the beauty travel products, right before a trip? I am good for this. Did you know that if you were to enroll in the CVS Beauty Club, you save 10% at enrollment? Even more, you would have access to personalized consultations and product advice from Beauty Consultants! I mean, if you do not want to live on the edge like me or if you don’t have time, and snatch up something that looks good- you have this cool option!

But back to my wipe obsession! This is where keeping a great pack of wipes on deck is necessary! I have tried a gazillion of them and after a stumble and curiosity, I found these Yes To Grapefruit Correct & Repair Brightening Facial Towelettes that gave me and saved my life!

Yes to Grapefruit at CVS on TheCurvyFashionista.com #CVSBeautyClubI mean you are seeing more and more of these babies around- wipes that remove makeup, exfoliate, and do whatever extra bit of help that you desire or need! But these? I was sooo curious as I was already familiar with the Yes to Carrots brand… I loved that it was made to tackle a few of the things that I was experiencing or needed help with, so I gave it a whirl! I mean, 98% natural product, made with compostable, natural cloth, FSC fabric AND free of parabens, petroleum and SLS? Sign me up!

Because Yes to Grapefruit offers “brightening and exfoliating your beautiful skin! Yes to Grapefruit formulations blend powerful fruit acids with ingredients proven to reduce hyper-pigmentation, correct skin damage, and enhance radiance,” I knew there was something special here and HONEY, let me tell you. I do not travel without these! Removing almost all of my makeup (including eye makeup), these wipes give my skin something to smile about and I am soooo happy I found these!

Yes to Grapefruit at CVS on TheCurvyFashionista.comNow, I am curious about the range and will see what else speaks to me! I mean, since to Yes to Grapefruit line is here to “correct and repair sun damage, age spots, and acne scarring,” which is basically my life, I am down for this and them! I do not think I would have found this, had I not shopped at CVS!Yes to Grapefruit at CVS

Score for CVS and their Beauty Club, right!?

You can pick these up online at CVS.com or in any of the 7,800 stores, nationwide!

Have you tried these? Do you use them or wipes? Which are your fave? Let’s discuss!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post by CVS and my experiences, thoughts, and excitement are all my own.

His Two Cents: Communication, It Is What’s Lacking

HTML email (plussizesblog.blogspot.com)

I’m sitting here at two in the morning thinking about why we have so much trouble communicating with one another? Why is it such a challenge to express our feelings to one another? Why can’t I say whatever needs to be said to my mate? These questions baffle me. Shouldn’t the longer we are together enhance it? But it seems to worsen with time. I’ve spoken to many men and women and I have done a lot of self-evaluation and I’ve come to realize this:

We are afraid!

communicationWe are afraid to say the wrong thing, we are afraid to risk losing our mate, we are afraid to be ourselves, afraid that this person won’t understand, afraid they won’t accept us, afraid to be alone, so we keep quiet. Shutting off the most important gift God has blessed us with, communication! We have been given a wonderful gift to be able to express in so many ways, speech, touch, looks (expression),written, body language, dance, and exercising our attitudes. We have been given so many ways to communicate yet we waste our time in silence!

As I began penning this post, I thought how can we be so arrogant to think we don’t need to express, communicate or listen to our mates? For years in my marriage I kept quiet to preserve peace, I always thought “happy wife happy life.” But I began to realize, I was becoming smaller and smaller in the relationship. I didn’t have a problem doing things for her or helping her in any way, but the longer we were together the less I felt a part of the marriage.

I felt like the fourth wheel on a tri-cycle, you could find a place for it but not necessary to make it go. It sucked! I know y’all can feel me on that. I had to learn that expressing myself didn’t mean arguing or being a jerk, just being heard was what I wanted.

Before I got married I asked my dad some advice, he said, “pick your battles, not everything is worth fighting over.” True. He said it’s about compromise, understanding. and respect. More truth. And he said, “just treat her like your girlfriend, always.” I thought I had the Holy Grail! He knew a bit about it, hell, my parents have been married for over 50 years!

effective-communication-techniques-relationships-800x800What got lost in that translation was that I gave all of that but didn’t receive it. She didn’t compromise with me or respect my difference of opinion and understanding. But that was partially my fault. I didn’t stress to her how I needed to be heard, I just wanted her to be happy. Being able to say I disagree without a fight, wasn’t going to happen. And to keep peace, I went along with most things.

I was afraid to disappoint her. Her happiness was what I cared about. Not afraid in a sense of fear of a beat down, just afraid she wouldn’t be happy. I could never communicate to her what made me happiest, most angry, frustrated or even concerned. Our marriage was one sided. I really had no one to blame but me- I let it get to that point. I had to change my way of thinking and speaking, expressing my feelings in calm tones and openness. Realizing it is OK to communicate and express oneself!

Plus size happy Couple in Relationship

So ladies, gentlemen, let’s work on dialogue. Let’s start taking back our space. That same person that listened to us in the beginning is still in there, and that person we haven’t met yet is out there waiting to hear us. So don’t stop respecting. Don’t stop expressing. Don’t stop loving yourself. Don’t miss out on communication- it can change the game!

When was the last time you had open and honest communication with your spouse, with yourself?

Embracing Winter In Winter Whites

HTML email (plussizesblog.blogspot.com)
We are in the thick of winter, and I am LOVING it!

Before you click out or unfollow me because you are over winter or hate the cold and have been counting down to  spring, let me elaborate...
Not a fan of subzero weather, my ideal winter temps are sunny with temperatures between 30-55 degrees. I don't adore winter for the activities, although determined to attempt snow shoeing one day soon. I prefer the white stuff to stay on the trees and grass where it’s beautiful, and not on the roads, because I dis like driving in it nor do I like driving alongside reckless drivers who speed regardless of road conditions. Beside those things, I love everything else. I love when it snows, its so tranquil and lovely. Since we are the mile high city (5,280 miles above sea level), we get intense sunshine practically everyday. Once the sun sparkles, the snow normally melts immediately, but somehow linger a little longer on trees and bushes resulting in picturesque snow scenes wherever we go.

< span sty le="background: white;">I also adore winter for the fashions (it's a shallow reason, I know), i.e. chic coats, gloves, boots, fur, leather, layers upon layers, and the darker, richer hues. On the opposite side of the color spectrum are winter whites.

There is something that is ultra chic about off white in the winter. Against the snow, the look is crisp, rich, and clean.  When styling this one color palette look, I opted to play around with shades and textures. For instance, styling this thick, cable knit, sweater against pants which are a softer fabric and lighter shade, then adding pops of snake print here and there. My look is completed with an off white park a, a kni t cable hat (which has been in heavy rotation lately), a statement necklace, and one of my favorite burgundy lip colors, Copenhangen by NYX.

The Details: Fur Collar Puffer Jacket/Nordstrom Rack | Knit Cable Hat & Sweater/ H&M| Off White Pants/Kardashian Collection JC Pennies| Snake Print Leather Gloves/Aldo Accessories| Platform Snake Print Booties/Target | Statement Necklace/Lane Bryant

What's your favorite winter trend?

Stay fab!
